FORM AND FUNCTION IN HARMONY. THE SECUMAX 350 WINS THE PRO-K AWARD 2015.

The SECUMAX 350 safety knife by MARTOR has been presented with the pro-K award 2015. The managing partner of MARTOR, Jan Hendricks, accepted the certificate at the pro-K award night on 15 February 2015 in Frankfurt am Main. The prize is awarded by the pro-K Industrial Association for Semi-Finished and Consumer Products made of Plastic, which rewards excellent plastic products every year through this competition.

"If you want to be a winner, it is not enough merely to present a functional product, you also have to attach importance to the design. Practical product features form the basis of winning products, but creativity is the key to success," emphasized Manfred Zorn, the pro-K jury chairman.

Function – Design – Creativity. At MARTOR, this is what the "creators" of the SECUMAX 350 let themselves be guided by. The result is an attractive and innovative safety knife which combines versatility, comfort and the highest levels of safety at a weight of just 37 grams.

Versatile because the most common materials such as films, straps, two-ply boxes and adhesive tape can be cut effortlessly. Comfortable because the ergonomically designed plastic handle sits particularly comfortably in your hand and changing the blade is child's play. And extremely safe because the new blade head works without an open cutting edge, which protects both people and goods.

There is also an economic aspect: the blade head offers two cutting edges and two adhesive tape cutters which can be used one after the other. The handle also contains a further replacement blade head, which increases the joy of cutting still further. This meant that the decision of the top-class jury was "a classic theme reinterpreted – a simple, well thought-through solution with an optimal safety mechanism and pleasant holding comfort."

The 80 guests of honour who had been invited to the event were able to be dazzled by the SECUMAX 350 (and the 24 other winning products) in the InterContinental Hotel in Frankfurt. Ralf Olsen, CEO of pro-K, got right to the heart of things: "with this award night, we are honouring the work and effort of all of the companies and offering them a particularly unique space. We want to get to know the faces behind the successes and help them on their way." That evening, these faces included Jan Hendricks, who as a managing partner of MARTOR accepted the prize with visible pride.

 About the pro-K award:

The pro-K award stands for quality in plastics and is the only competition which awards prizes exclusively to plastic products. It has been presented for new, creative and functionally designed products for more than 30 years. The prizes are awarded by an independent jury of experts made up of well-known representatives of the design and plastic processing industry, the specialised press and consumer protection.

In 2015, a total of 25 prizes in 11 categories were awarded for innovative plastic products. In addition to MARTOR KG, the winners included Tupperware Deutschland GmbH, geobra Brandstätter GmbH & Co. KG ("Playmobil"), koziol ideas for friends GmbH and UVEX Arbeitsschutz GmbH.

The pro-K award has been praised by the pro-K industrial association, which combines and represents the interests of the manufacturers of semi-finished and consumer products. Almost 120 companies are members of the association.
